The Magicians – Season campaign

The Magicians is a fantasy TV series on SYFY's most popular show at the time. Coming off a critically acclaimed and fan-lauded Season 1, I was tasked with leading the campaign for Season 2. Working with a group of art directors, copywriters, and video editors, I inspired them to come up with a year’s worth of ideas that centered around the adulting theme of the season. I oversaw the new design direction, chose the ideas, managed production, and created a huge comprehensive presentation, which I delivered to a room of 20 people.

SYFY bought every idea, so we created over 100 assets, covered events like Comic Con, and were renewed for another season.

Results

  • It was Syfy’s biggest S2 premiere vs S1 premiere for any Syfy original scripted series ever

  • On Twitter, the S2 premiere earned 327MM estimated impressions, more than double the first season

  • Competitively, The Magicians saw the strongest S2 premiere vs S1 premiere gain in P18–49s for any basic cable scripted series since 2015

  • Nearly two-thirds of the viewers were new, more than any Syfy series at that time.
